Learning Management System (LMS)

The Midlands Highway Alliance Learning Management System (LMS) enables access to online courses and booking onto face to face learning events  – provided by the MHA skills community, sector partners and our members.

Working with Virtual College and sector partners a range of learning, training and development opportunities are provided – as well as resources to support learning. Virtual learning content can be undertaken from any computer with internet access. This helps to overcome some of the geographical challenges of providing learning for our members  and means that as many people as possible can take part in training.

Benefits of the online learning

  • online learning is flexible learning at a time and place that is convenient to the learner.
  • other sector partners online learning is to be made available – so you can access relevant learning all via one lms
  • it is planned to offer a range of learning and development opportunities (that will incur a fee) via our MHA PROMOTE site
  • learner’s progress through the course is recorded. This means that learners do not have to complete a whole module in one sitting.
  • learners can refer back to completed modules at any time.
  • learners can download their pass certificate once they have completed their learning and evaluation process.
  • learners can access course materials and resources to assist in their learning

Getting started

Learners will need to have access to a computer with an internet connection.

Some modules have been developed using the latest Flash technology, which means that Flash Player will need to be installed on your computer. This software is free and can be downloaded from the internet. A link to download Flash Player is included with the training material.

For MHA members, framework contractors and their supply chain:

go to http://mhaskills.virtual-college.co.uk and click on the Register button as a New User (some of the text on this page is a work in progress as we develop the functions of the lms)

You will be asked to provide details and a password to begin your registration onto the MHA lms – and receive your login details.

This will be your learner account. You will receive an e:mail confirmation with your learner account details. You can then access the MHA lms

Guidance on how to access the learning and development gateway is available in the Learning Management System user guide. You can download a copy here.
